Home / Homeowner advising

An independent inspector on your side of the build.

Building a custom home, ADU or addition? We review the work at each stage, explain what you’re looking at in plain English, and help you get ready for every city inspection — before problems get covered up.

The most expensive corrections are the ones found after the walls are closed. We look before they are.

Why hire an inspector, not just trust the schedule

Your contractor builds the project. The city checks it at set points. Between those visits you’re making expensive decisions with no one whose only job is looking out for you.

We inspect to code every day
BK Inspection is a registered deputy and special inspection agency working to the California Building Code, or the IBC where a jurisdiction has adopted it, on active job sites across Southern California.
Public-agency experience
We’ve inspected federal, state and municipal projects, including work for the U.S. Navy — jobs where documentation and code compliance are held to the strictest standard.
We work for you, not the contractor
We’re independent. Our only interest is that your project is built to the approved plans and passes inspection without surprises.

Common questions

Do you replace my contractor?

No. Your contractor still builds the project. We give you independent guidance so you can confirm the work matches the approved plans and applicable codes.

How is a site visit different from monthly advising?

A site visit is a single review at the stage you choose. Monthly advising gives you continuous access — questions, plan reviews, inspection prep and visits — for as long as the project runs.

Can you guarantee my project passes inspection?

No one honestly can. What we do is catch visible issues early, explain what the inspector will look for, and help you prepare, which greatly reduces the chance of costly surprises.

Can BK also be my project’s special inspector?

If your permit requires special inspections — concrete, epoxy anchors, welding, masonry and others — BK can perform those as well. Mention it when you request a visit.

Where do you work?

Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

Advising and site visits are independent construction consulting based on the approved plans and applicable building codes. They do not replace the responsibilities of your licensed contractor, design professionals or the local building department, and BK Inspection cannot guarantee inspection approvals, construction quality or project outcomes. Observations are limited to work visible at the time of the visit.
